Meet the Duncan Family Eye Care Optometrists
Dr. Jody W. Atchley, Dr. Jeffrey W. Edwards, and Dr. Whitney N. Cox
Jody W. Atchley, O.D.
Dr. Atchley grew up in Duncan, Oklahoma. He graduated from Duncan High School in 1985. Dr. Atchley attended Northeastern State University for both his undergraduate and graduate studies. He graduated from optometry school, summa cum laude, in 1992. Dr. Atchley and his wife Tamra have three children, all graduates of Duncan High School. Dr. Atchley enjoys golf, running, playing bass guitar, and a general active lifestyle. Dr. Atchley is an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Duncan.
Jeffry W. Edwards, O.D.
Dr. Edwards was born and raised in Duncan, Oklahoma. He graduated from Duncan High School in 2000. After graduating high school he attended the University of Central Oklahoma where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. Edwards was then accepted into Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry where he graduated with a Doctorate in Optometry in 2008. He joined his brother-in-law, Dr. Jody W. Atchley, in practice and they formed Duncan Family Eye Care in June of 2008.
Dr. Edwards is married to wife, Jennifer, and they currently have three children. In his free time he enjoys spending time with friends and family and attending OU sporting events. Also in 2016, Dr. Edwards and his wife helped launch Impact580 church where they currently attend and serve.
Whitney N. Cox, O.D.
Dr. Whitney Cox grew up in Duncan, Oklahoma and graduated from Duncan High School in 2006. She attended the University of Oklahoma (OU) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies and a minor in Spanish in 2009. Dr. Cox studied optometry at Northeastern State University (NSU) Oklahoma College of Optometry where she graduated summa cum laude with her Doctorate of Optometry in May 2015.
While in optometry school, Dr. Cox received a number of awards including the Oklahoma College of Optometry Clinical Excellence Award and the NSU Academic Achievement Award for the college. She was also featured in the Vision Monday magazine as “Best in Class” Award for 2015, Women in Optometry, and was recognized by the Southwest Contact Lens Society for excellence in fitting contact lenses. Dr. Cox was also a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society throughout optometry school.
Dr. Cox is active in the American Optometric Association and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians (OAOP) and was also chosen to be a member of the Oklahoma Leadership Optometry Class of 2016. Dr. Cox is currently serving on the Membership Committee of the OAOP and has participated in various legislative activities at the Oklahoma State Capitol to help promote the ocular health of the citizens of Oklahoma. She is also an active member of a P.E.O philanthropic organization in the Edmond community that seeks to promote education and the advancement of women through scholarships, grants, and awards. During her free time, Dr. Cox enjoys spending time at the lake with family, shopping, traveling, and attending OU sporting events!
